Fire Causes $200K in Damage to Container Company

A two-alarm fire Sunday in Upper Macungie destroys industrial dust collector.

A two-alarm fire Sunday at the Fitzpatrick Container Company in Upper Macungie caused more than $200,000 in damage, according to a township fire official.

The fire, which broke out at 10 a.m., destroyed an industrial dust collector and caused smoke damage to the building.

Firefighters fought the blaze for nearly four hours.

According to fire Marshal Sam Ashmar, firefighters from Upper Macungie Station 56 and Fogelsville Fire Company were dispatched to the company at 6923 Schantz Road, because of a water flow alarm. When they arrived, firefighters found smoke and had to force their way into the building. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The building is owned by Shallross Investments LLC.

Firefighters from Alburtis, Cetronia, Lower Macunige Township, Topton and Woodlawn assisted along with Cetronia Ambulance.
