I'm a Silicon Valley based wine geek and wine writer. My blog, which was a finalist for best wine blog overall and best writing at the 2011 Wine Blog Awards, is RJonWine.com. I was honored to be included in IntoWine.com's 2012 list of “Top 100 Most Influential People in the U.S. Wine Industry." I write about wine events, winemakers and winetastings in the Silicon Valley, San Francisco Bay Area, and beyond. I'm also a panelist this year on monthly videos on various wine topics for IntoWineTV.com.

I am a graduate of Stanford University and Columbia Law School. I'm a human resources executive by day, for the largest mental health agency in Santa Clara County, which has a few facilities in Palo Alto, including offices on California Avenue. I spend all my spare hours, however, tasting, reading about and writing about wine. I believe that Ben Franklin, oenophile and Francophile, had it right when he wrote, "Wine is constant proof that God loves us and loves to see us happy."

In addition to my blog, I'm the most prolific author of wine tasting notes on CellarTracker.com, which is the largest compendium of winetasting notes online. I currently have over 27,000 tasting notes there, and counting.

I like a broad range of wines, I’m drawn particularly to wines of balance and complexity, I can give high scores to both traditional and modern producers, and although there are certain wines and regions I’m particularly passionate about, I’m always open to exploring and taking a wine that’s new to me on its own terms.
