Weis Gas-N-Go Entrance Should Be Moved, Planners Say

The Upper Macungie Planning Commission wants to examine plans for the proposed Gas-N-Go fuel station.

The Upper Macungie Planning Commission declined to give approval Wednesday night to a proposed Weis Gas-N-Go fuel station at 7801 Glenlivet Drive in Fogelsvile. According to a report in The Morning Call, planners want changes to the eight-pump station before giving approval. Those changes include moving the entrance to accommodate traffic flow during busy periods. Once planners give their approval, the plans move on to the Board of Supervisors for its OK. Now, that may not happen until July. Weis Markets took the first step in its quest to build the fuel station in March at the Fogelsville location when it received a use variance from the Upper Macungie Zoning Hearing Board. The prospect of additional retail stores at the Fogelsville Weis …

Goddard School Comes Before Planners Wednesday

The early childhood and preschool learning center has plans to open a location at 8236 Hamilton Blvd. in Breinigsville.

The Goddard School, an early childhood and preschool learning center, will present revised land development plans to the Upper Macungie Planning Commission Wednesday night. The school has plans to open a location at 8236 Hamilton Blvd. in Breinigsville. According to township records, the company plans to develop a 1.9482-acre parcel of land. The proposed child-care facility would be a 13,219-square-foot building with 52 parking spaces. The property is in a medium low density residential zoned area. A child-care facility is a permitted use in the area, provided that it is served by an arterial road, which in this instance, it is. The commission will also consider a re-submission of a land development plan for Dan's Auto Repair, located at …

Weis Gas Station Goes to Planners Wednesday

A final plan for the proposed Weis Gas-N-Go fuel station is scheduled to go before the Upper Macungie Planning Commission.

Plans for a Weis Gas-N-Go fuel station, which would be at the Weis shopping center at 7801 Glenlivet Drive in Fogelsvile, will go before the Upper Macungie Planning Commission Wednesday night. Weis Markets took the first step in its quest to build the fuel station in March  at the Fogelsville location, when it received a use variance for the property last Wednesday night from the Upper Macungie Zoning Hearing Board. This Wednesday's hearing will focus on the preliminary/final building plan for the fuel station site. Ultimately, township supervisors will have the last word on the project once planners give their recommendation. That could happen as early as June's supervisors meeting, if the planning commission gives it approval to the …

Green Hills Park Likely on Supervisors Agenda

The Upper Macungie Board of Supervisors' Thursday night meeting agenda has not been released, but the board is likely to again discuss who takes over the park.

Upper Macungie Supervisors hold their monthly agenda meeting Thursday night at 7 at the township building and, although the agenda has not been released, the board is likely to again spend time mulling the fate of Green Hills Kay Brook Park. In April, supervisors postponed making a decision until members of the adjoining Kay Brook Green Hills Swim Club provided answers to some of the  questions about their intentions for the 2.7-acre park. The Kay Brook Green Hills Association, the owner of the park, dissolved as of Jan. 1, and ownership of the Russett Road park is now in the legal process of being transferred from the association to the township. The swim club, which is a separate entity from the park association, is asking the township …

Engineers have said they hope construction can start in June, once all proposals are approved.

Engineers representing Weis Markets will resubmit a land development plan to Upper Macungie planners Wednesday night for retail stores planned at the Fogelsville location. The owner of the property at 7801 Glenlivet Drive West, Weis Markets Inc. of Sunbury, and the equitable owner, Route 100 Associates LLP of Hamburg, submitted plans to township planners in February and March. The 2.906-acre property plan would house a 9,375-square-foot multi-use retail establishment. The second retail building is pegged at 8,400 square feet. Site improvements will consist of at least 99 new parking spaces, access and utilities for the three new facilities. Engineers have previously said they hope construction can start in June, once all proposals are …

Retail Store Construction at Weis Starts In June

Engineer says he's hopeful for a June groundbreaking on retail stores at the Weis Markets complex in Fogelsville, once all proposals have been approved.

Construction of new retail locations at the Weis Markets shopping complex in Fogelsville could begin as early as June, once all approvals are secured. That process continued Wednesday night when the Upper Macungie Planning Commission heard a resubmission of land development plans for the project. "We'd like to start construction as soon as we get approval," said Christopher Falnecki of Weiser Engineering Consultants LLC of Wernersville. "It's almost April now and we could break ground sometime in June." Route 100 Lehigh Hills Project Scaled Down

Lehigh Hills Route 100 Development, LP now proposes 22 low-rise apartments at Route 100 and Glenlivet Drive, instead of up to 98 townhomes.

A Bethlehem developer once again revamped plans for housing units slated for construction at Route 100 and Glenlivet Drive in Fogelsville. Lehigh Hills Route 100 Development, LP presented a plan featuring 22 low-rise apartments at the nearly 15-acre site to the Upper Macungie Planning Commission Wednesday night. The previously approved plan, according to Jason Englehardt of Langan Engineering in Bethlehem, proposed construction of 98 townhouse units. A revised plan was subsequently submitted for 22 low-rise apartment units and 87 townhomes on a mixed-use lot. However, township zoning issues required another revision of that plan. The site is in a medium-high density residential zoning district. The development would be a permitted use in …

Three Retail Stores Planned Near Fogelsville Weis

The development plan, at 7801 Glenlivet Drive West, includes a multi-unit retail building, a bank and a restaurant. Construction could start as early as this summer.

Construction on three retail establishments -- a multi-unit retail building, a bank and a restaurant -- could begin as early as this summer if submitted plans are accepted later this year by the Upper Macungie Planning Commission. "We're hoping to get construction begun by fall, but it could start as early as summer," said Christopher Falnecki, president of Weiser Engineering Consultants of Wernersville. "I didn't hear anything [Wednesday] night that would indicate otherwise." The owner of the property at 7801 Glenlivet Drive West, Weis Markets Inc. of Sunbury, and the equitable owner, Route 100 Associates LLP of Hamburg, submitted a preliminary plan to township planners Wednesday night. The 2.906-acre property plan would house a 9,375-…
