Upper Macungie Police Sworn In

In two ceremonies, the township's new police officers take the oath to protect and serve Upper Macungie.

Surrounded by loved ones and officials, members of the new Upper Macungie Police Department swore Friday to protect and serve the township to the best of their abilities.  The swearing-in of officers was held at the township building in two shifts Friday -- at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. -- because the majority of them still work for the soon-to-be-defunct Berks Lehigh Regional Police and they could not all be off at the same time.  The township will officially switch over to the new department at 6 p.m. Dec. 31.  District Judge Michael Faulkner administered the oath to the officers before each was called up individually to sign the oath and receive his badge.  Supervisor Chairman Edward Earley praised Police Chief Edgardo Colon, who with the help …

Police Management Team Sworn In

Upper Macungie Township swears in Police Chief Edgardo Colon and two lieutenants to begin the process of starting up the new police department.

Upper Macungie Township took the first step in beginning its police department Monday by swearing in Police Chief Edgardo Colon and Lieutenants Michael Sitoski and Joe Wilson. A swearing-in ceremony was held Monday in the township meeting room with District Judge Michael Faulkner presiding. "I'm anxious and eager to work with this great team to get the ball rolling to put all of our energy and efforts into organizing and planning the final end stage components of this police department," Colon said. Sitoski, a 12-year veteran of the Berks-Lehigh Regional Police Department, said he is very excited about the challenge.
