Student Stabs Classmate with Syringe at Parkland, Cops Say

South Whitehall Police are still investigating the alleged attack. The accused Parkland High School student was taken to police headquarters.

  South Whitehall Police report they responded to a disturbance call at Parkland High School at approximately 1 p.m. Wednesday where they discovered a student intentionally stabbed a classmate in the leg with a syringe while eating lunch in the cafeteria. Police report the injured student was treated by medical personnel upon arrival of the student's parents. The accused student was taken from the school by their guardian and taken to South Whitehall Police headquarters for questioning.  Police report the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.

Bone Marrow Drive for Local Boy Draws a Crowd

More than 160 people came to the Be a Match bone marrow registry in Breinigsville July 20 in order to help Angel Mojica, a 14-year-old Saucon Valley student who is battling leukemia

It takes a village to raise a child, and on Wednesday, July 20, many members of that proverbial village made their way to Samuel Adams Brewery in Breinigsville to help Jose “Angel” Mojica, a 14-year-old Saucon Valley student who is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Angel has been fighting the disease for four years and relapsed in May. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy but urgently needs a bone marrow transplant to survive. No one in his family is a match for him, so the assistance of the Be A Match registry was sought. The bone marrow registry drive organized by Be A Match at the Upper Macungie brew pub drew a steady stream of supporters throughout the day.
