Man Robs Trexlertown Redner's Market, Police Say

A 19-year-old man who police saw running from Redner's Market early this morning with a white bandana over his face has been charged with robbing the market, Upper Macungie police said. Mario Canas, of Breinigsville, was in Lehigh County prison this morning awaiting arraignment, police said. Following a foot chase by police, he was charged with robbery and related offenses. Police said he had a handgun, and cash, when taken into custody. At 2:48 a.m., an Upper Macungie police officer saw a man, later identified as Canas, run out of the Redner's Market at 7150 Hamilton Blvd., according to police. Excellent job by the police officer. It sounds like this was probably not the first robbery this guy has committed. It was very thought out. He was just unlucky the police officer was in the right place at the right time. Love it when that happens!   more ›
