Election Day brought problems at polls in several areas of eastern Pennsylvania
EASTERN PA — Several reports of voting irregularities in Eastern Pennsylvania emerged on Tuesday, the day of the presidential election. In Easton, signs appeared offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to voter fraud convictions. A constable for Easton’s 10th ward removed one such sign staked into the ground after consulting with an elections attorney on site. The Pennsylvania Commercial Action Network, the same group that posted “Replace ObamaCare” billboards around the state, made the signs. ID Requests Many Easton voters also reported poll workers asking for their IDs, even though IDs are not required for this election cycle under the law. Matthew Keeler, press secretary for the PA Department of State, said that's part of the …

The former New York mayor and Hollywood star fire up volunteers at Bethlehem GOP Victory Center. Romney surrogates say Pennsylvania is still in play.
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani headed an all-star cast of Republican surrogates who came to the party’s Victory Center at the Westgate Mall in Bethlehem to make a last-minute pitch for Mitt Romney Monday night. Giuliani and his co-stars, actor Jon Voight, former Maryland Gov. Bob Ehrlich and former U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, were there to thank and fire up volunteers and – to sell the idea that Pennsylvania is still in play in the presidential race. “It will be quite a surprise and a kick in the you-know-what if Pennsylvania votes for Mitt Romney,” Guiliani said to a round of laughter and applause. Every major poll in the state – except for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review/Susquehanna Polling & Research poll, which scores the race a tie…

I hate when people behave in ways that give credence to stereotypes. Don't you find it funny that our black president is STILL blaming the white guy (Bush) for HIS failure. What a loser!   more ›

Third-, fourth- and fifth-graders at Jaindl Elementary School get a lesson in presidential elections -- and even get to 'vote' too.
In the end, Obama beat Romney, 191 to 110. But in this recent "mock" election at Jaindl Elementary School, it wasn't the outcome that was important but the process, as third-, fourth- and fifth-graders at Jaindl Elementary School learned how America elects its presidents. The cool part? The students got to "vote" using two electronic voting machines, courtesy of the Lehigh County voter registration office. "It felt like we were like grownups," said fifth-grader Stephanie Roccoberton of Upper Macungie, who was among the students casting ballots. Outside the classroom, in the lunchroom and the like, students got passionate about their candidates, she said. In the classroom, the students learned the process of electing a president, the …

First lady Michelle Obama delivers fiery speech before 2,400 supporters at Moravian College.
First Lady Michelle Obama came to Bethlehem Thursday night and delivered a fiery speech aimed at inspiring the 2,400 in attendance to get at least one more person to the polls in November to help re-elect her husband. “Barack has said this election will be even closer than the last one. This election could come to those last few thousand votes, particularly in this state,” she told the standing-room-only crowd gathered at Moravian College in the Johnston Hall gym. “When you think of a few thousand votes spread out across the state, that could be the one new voter that you register, that one neighbor you get to the polls. That could be the difference. That could be the one that puts us over the top,” she continued. The first lady …

Columnist headed to the only Driver's License Center in Lehigh County that issues IDs for voters.
I spent a recent afternoon in an experiment to see how long it might take to get a voter’s photo ID from the PennDOT Driver's License Center off Airport Road. I’ll tell you the results in a minute. It’s an important question because according to Pennsylvania’s Department of State, about 31,000 registered voters in the Lehigh Valley are without a current driver’s license or state issued non-driver ID that will enable them to vote in the Nov. 6 presidential election. Some of those folks have other official photo identification that will be accepted at the polls because they are a government employee, a member of the military, a university student or a nursing home patient or employee. All those IDs, so long as they haven’t expired -- plus …

Opponents of new Voter ID law say some PennDOT workers don't know the details well enough to help ensure residents have correct identification for the polls
By Jared Sichel | PA Independent HARRISBURG — Opponents of Pennsylvania’s new voter ID law said state employees are not giving correct information to people seeking identification as part of the voter registration process. This theme pervaded the plaintiffs’ testimonies about employees at the state Department of Transportation given during the fifth day of court hearings at the Commonwealth Court here. Lawyers representing 10 Pennsylvania voters argued this week that because some PennDOT employees don’t know the details of the law, the state cannot fully implement its own legislation before the November elections. In March, Pennsylvania became the ninth state to require photo ID as a condition of voting. The law states that people who don’…

Sweden's workers pay the highest taxes in the world!!! That model wouldn't work here, since only 1/2 U.S. population pay ANY federal tax. Yes, the 47% who avoid federal tax demand much, but you can only squeeze the working class just so much to pay for it all.   more ›
