A Tough Mudder event, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2 at Raven Valley Farm near North Whitehall Township, could prove tough for Upper Macungie Township motorists. That's because preliminary traffic plans, which have been submitted to Upper Macungie Township officials, call for more than 7,000 vehicles each day to park in fields behind the Weis Markets in Fogelsville off Route 100. The fields, according to Upper Macungie Supervisor Sam Ashmar, are owned by Jaindl Land Co. David Jaindl, president of Jaindl Farms in North Whitehall and Jaindl Land Company, recently announced that the farm company has agreed to lease 400 acres in Heidelberg and Lynn townships for the Tough Mudder challenge. Representatives from Nestle appeared before the Upper Macungie Planning Commission Wednesday proposing a paved parking van area and a paved car area as part of a project in the Lehigh Valley West Industrial Park. The project is at 155 Nestle Way in Breinigsville. The company proposes 6,150 square feet of paved van parking area and a paved parking car area of 14,420 square feet in front of the building. The company's submission also proposes to add steps, sidewalks and 39 spaces for cars, while eliminating 10 existing spaces in the south end of the facility. Eleven new parking spaces are proposed for the northeast side of the facility. The commission noted that Nestle should provide parking signage separating truck and passenger vehicles. …
