Anti-Wall St. Rally Draws Angry Protesters

The Occupy Wall Street protests in New York City have inspired at least two similar groups in the Lehigh Valley. Leading one of the local movements is Easton's Adam Santo, who says he brought the "Occupy Allentown" demonstration to that city Monday after being inspired by what was happening in New York. Turnout "fluctuated" between 15-30 people throughout the afternoon, Santo said in a phone interview late Monday afternoon from the corner of 7th and Hamilton streets in Allentown. Cars could be heard in the background, honking, Santo said, in support. Monday's protest drew a mix of people, Santo said, from the Lehigh Valley, from Reading, from Philadelphia. Anti-Wall Street Demonstration Coming to Lehigh Valley

Occupy Together plans noon rally in Allentown on Monday

The Occupy Together movement will come to the Lehigh Valley with a noon rally scheduled for 7th and Hamilton streets in Allentown on Monday. Occupy Together is a spin-off of the Occupy Wall Street protest. More than 700 anti-Wall Street protestors were arrested Saturday when they tried to cross the Brooklyn Bridge. Occupy Together is a national effort to mobilize "99% [to] take action against the greed and corruption of the 1%," according to the movement's website. About 30 people have committed to attend the Allentown rally, according to the Occupy Allentown Facebook page.
