FBI, Philly Police Investigating Gov. Corbett's Son-in-Law

Multiple sources say Philadelphia narcotics officer Gerald Gibson has been put on administrative leave.

Last updated 6:20 p.m. Multiple news outlets are reporting that the son-in-law of Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett is under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Philadelphia Police. Sources tell NBC10 that Gerald Gibson, a narcotics officer, has been placed on administrative leave. Police reportedly issued a brief statement about an officer being removed from his duties after a joint investigation by the FBI and Internal Affairs. The officer was not reportedly identified and has not been arrested or charged with a crime. WPVI-TV (6 ABC) reported that Gibson was allegedly found in possession of marked money that was used during a police sting operation. Fatal Trick-or-Treat Night Accident Probe Wrapping Up

Fourteen-year-old Jordan Steinmetz was hit by an SUV and killed as he walked along Schantz Road in Upper Macungie on Oct. 26, 2012. He had been trick-or-treating.

  Upper Macungie Township Police said Friday the investigation of a fatal pedestrian accident on Oct. 26, 2012 on Schantz Road is ongoing but close to being completed. Jordan Steinmetz, 14, of Lisa Court, Upper Macungie, was hit by an SUV as he walked along a residential portion of Schantz Road, and killed. He had been trick-or-treating with a friend, and he had been in costume. Sgt. Corey Reeder of Upper Macungie Towship Police, who took over the investigation from the defunct Berks-Lehigh Regional Police, declined to name the driver of the SUV. OSHA Investigating Upper Macungie Death

OSHA says the investigation into Fred Hossler's workplace death in Upper Macungie last month could take up to six months to complete.

Authorities with the Occupational Health and Safety Administration said it could take six months to complete the investigation of the workplace death of Fred Hossler,  according to a report in The Express-Times. The Lehigh County Coroner's office said the cause of death of Frederick Hossler, 34, of Northampton was blunt force trauma to the abdomen and pelvis due to an industrial pedestrian accident on Aug. 21. The coroner said Hossler was pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 29 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest from his injuries. The manner of the death has been ruled an accident. The coroner's office said Hossler, who worked for Ehrlich Pest Control, was struck by a tractor-trailer in the parking lot of 6974 Schantz Road in Upper …

Police ID Suspect in Child Luring Case

Berks-Lehigh Regional Police still seek the public's assistance in Upper Macungie case.

Berks-Lehigh Regional Police said Friday they, with the public's assistance, have identified a suspect in a possible child luring case in Upper Macungie Township. The incident occurred Wednesday at approximately 4 p.m. in the area of Warba Drive and Chapmans Road in Upper Macungie Township. Police say two girls were approached by a male and were asked to go with him. Police say the suspect is a white male approximately 30 years old, 5’ 7", with a heavy build and gray/brown hair wearing a black Steelers sweater with yellow striping. Police say this incident remains under investigation. Investigators are asking that anyone that may have observed the incident to contact the police department at 610-683-8740.

Police say two girls were approached by a male and were asked to go with him. Investigators Target Source of Allentown Blast But City Still on Edge

Fire Chief fears effects of freeze, thaw on aging infrastructure.

Crews have identified the section of aging cast iron gas pipe that may have caused last Wednesday’s deadly explosion, but Allentown’s fire chief still isn’t sleeping easy. “This time of year, I’m concerned all the time as the ground constantly freezes and thaws,” Chief Robert Scheirer said Monday. “A water main break could lead to a gas main break. I’m always worried about it.” Scheirer said UGI crews responded “very quickly” to reports of two small gas leaks in the 600 block of North 11th Street on Sunday evening. Some residents were evacuated for about 10 minutes, he said.
