Two people were killed in a fiery two-vehicle crash on MacArthur Road in Whitehall on Saturday evening, according to reports on mcall.com and wfmz.com A car turning right onto MacArthur Road from Eberhart Road was struck by a pickup truck traveling north at a high rate of speed about 6 p.m., according to the reports. The car caught fire and the two people in the car were killed. The identities of those killed have not yet been released. MacArthur Road (Route 145) was closed for hours.

Upper Macungie Township Police said Friday the investigation of a fatal pedestrian accident on Oct. 26, 2012 on Schantz Road is ongoing but close to being completed. Jordan Steinmetz, 14, of Lisa Court, Upper Macungie, was hit by an SUV as he walked along a residential portion of Schantz Road, and killed. He had been trick-or-treating with a friend, and he had been in costume. Sgt. Corey Reeder of Upper Macungie Towship Police, who took over the investigation from the defunct Berks-Lehigh Regional Police, declined to name the driver of the SUV. Berks-Lehigh Regional Police said Sunday they are continuing their investigation into the fatal pedestrian accident on Schantz Road in Upper Macungie. Jordan Steinmetz, 14, of Lisa Court, Upper Macungie, was hit by an SUV as he walked along a residential portion of Schantz Road, and killed. He had been trick-or-treating with a friend, and he had been in costume. The driver of the SUV has not yet been identified. Steinmetz was walking west on Schantz Road when he was struck by the SUV, also traveling west on Schantz Road, according to a preliminary investigation. A 14-year-old boy who apparently had been trick-or-treating was hit and killed by an SUV Friday night on Schantz Road in Upper Macungie. Jordan Steinmetz, of Lisa Court, Upper Macungie, was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. Updated 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4. A 54-year-old man who was standing outside his tractor trailer was struck and killed Thursday morning off Ruppsville Road in Upper Macungie, the Lehigh County Coroner's office said. Richard James, of 675 N. Ridge Road, Reinholds, was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Wendy Brantley. According to the coroner's office, James was standing outside his tractor trailer in the 7500 block of Morris Court when it was hit by another tractor trailer, subsequently striking him. The cause and manner of death is pending an autopsy on Friday. The coroner's office and the Berks Lehigh Regional Police are investigating. The accident happened shortly after 6 a.m.

The 22-year-old woman was struck at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The 22-year-old woman who was struck and killed Tuesday at the I-78 Interchange and Hamilton Boulevard in Lower Macungie Township has been identified by the Lehigh County Coroner, according to a report in the Morning Call. Zhen Li, a Chinese national and summer Dorney Park employee, was in the U.S. on a work visa, it said. The woman, who was struck at 5:36 a.m. by a Jeep Cherokee driven by Zachary James Edwards, 19, of Allentown, was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital -- Cedar Crest and pronounced dead after 9 a.m., it said. Edwards, who was driving before sunrise was unable to stop before hitting the woman as he drove up the ramp. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call Pennsylvania State Police at 610-395-1438.

Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim confirmed Friday that Lucas Cramer, 31, of Duncannon (Perry County), was the driver killed in a fatal truck crash Monday on Interstate 78. Grim positively identified Cramer's body using DNA techniques. Deputy coroner Richard Kroon had already pronouned Cramer dead at the scene at 5:44 a.m. Monday. Grim's autopsy revealed the manner of death was accidental and attributed it to blunt force head and chest trauma. According to reports, a tractor trailer driven by Cramer smashed into the back of a truck driven by James Sherry while traveling east on I-78. Fatal accident closes SB Route 309, according to scanner report.
A fatal motor vehicle accident occurred late Friday on Route 309 in Lower Macungie Township according to emergency scanner transmissions. The accident was reported around 11 p.m. as an overturned vehicle with an unresponsive victim trapped underneath. State Police arrived and reported the victim was potentially deceased. The accident occurred on SB Rt. 309 under I-78 in the vicinity of where Lower Macungie, South Whitehall, Upper Macungie and Salisbury township come together. Southbound Route 309 was closed, and traffic was diverted at Tilghman Street. The accident was initially reported as being located on I-78 at Hamilton Boulevard in South Whitehall Township.
