Corcoran lost Upper Macungie supervisor race to incumbent Kathy Rader
Joe Corcoran said he's licking his wounds Wednesday following a landslide election loss to incumbent Kathy Rader in the race for an Upper Macungie Township Board of Supervisors seat. Tuesday's results, which are unofficial until certified by the county's Board of Electors, showed Rader, showed the incumbent ahead by a 67 percent to 33 percent margin. "I'm appreciative of the people who voted for me," Corcoran said. "It wasn't our year. We were up against a smoothly operated, well controlled and well financed campaign." Corcoran said it was too early to tell whether he would consider another run for an open seat in the township.
Eight candidates were vying for four seats on the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners.
South Whitehall Commissioner Brad Osborne won his bid for one of four spots on the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners in a hard-fought, eight-person contest, according to unofficial vote tallies. Osborne was part of a Republican sweep on the county board, as incumbent Democrat Gloria Hamm and Democrats Geoffrey S. Brace, Dennis L. Pearson, and Timothy S. Waitkus fell short in their bids. Also winning seats on the board were Republicans Scott Ott, Vic Mazziotti and Lisa Scheller, who ran as a slate. Incumbent Debra Evans lost her re-election bid to Parkland School Board, according to unofficial tallies.
Incumbents David M. Kennedy, Lisa Adams, Roberta Marcus and Robert Bold won re-election to the Parkland School Board, according to unofficial vote tallies. Political newcomer Roy Jef Reyburn, a Republican, won a fifth spot on the board. Incumbent Debra Y. Evans, who has no party affiliation, fell short in her re-election bid, trailing Reyburn by 808 votes. According to unofficial tallies, the vote totals are as follows: Adams, 6,525; Kennedy, 6,430; Marcus, 6,441; Bold, 6,186; Reyburn, 4,202; Evans, 3,394.

Incumbent Republican Kathy Rader takes six-year supervisor seat, defeating Democratic challenger Joe Corcoran.
Republican incumbent Kathy Rader won a full six-year supervisor term in Upper Macungie Township Tuesday, defeating Democratic challenger Joe Corcoran. Rader, a Breinigsville resident, was appointed to fill a vacancy on the township's Board of Supervisors in 2006 and elected to the unexpired term in 2007. The results, which are unofficial until certified by the county's Board of Electors, showed Rader, showed the incumbent ahead by a 67 percent to 33 percent margin. "I'm thrilled. I feel really good. Five of the Parkland School Board candidates are incumbents. One is a political newcomer.
Six candidates, including five incumbents, are vying for five positions on the Parkland School Board in the Nov. 8 election. Four have an edge because they won both the Democratic and Republican nominations in the primary, placing them on both ballots – Republicans Lisa Adams, David Kennedy and Roberta Marcus and Democrat Robert Bold. The other two candidates face more of a challenge in the contest for a school board seat: Debra Evans Evans, of North Whitehall, is seeking her second term on the school board.
