Summer Dates: An Afternoon in a Winery

Treat yourselves to a few hours of wine and winemaking.

Here's a date all packaged and ready to go. No calculations necessary: Take advantage of all the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail has to offer. Sure, it sponsors big events where all the wineries are represented, but very often the individual wine trail members sponsor their own events. Perfect! For example, this weekend at Clover Hill Vineyards and Winery in Breinigsville, the two of you can enjoy a segment of the 2012 Vineyard and Winery Tour Series. At noon and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday you can enjoy sipping and touring, and get a glimpse of the winemaking process. Cost of the "date" is $12 per person for guests over 21. Nearby at Vynecrest Winery, you can enjoy music by Jake Kaligis from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday. Enjoy!

Clover Hill Winery Holds Coat Drive This Week

Clover Hill's coat drive will benefit The Caring Place in Allentown.

Clover Hill Vineyards and Winery in Breinigsville is holding a coat drive this week to benefit The Caring Place in Allentown. The coat drive will continue through Sunday Dec. 4 with Clover Hill's Holiday Open House on Saturday, Dec. 3. It is the third year Clover Hill will accept used coats in good condition for the Caring Place, according to employee Stormy Skrimp. The Caring Place is a a youth development center that reaches out to youth in the Lehigh Valley who may be facing adversity. People donating gently used coats will receive a 10 percent discount on wine purchases and a 20 percent discount on cases, Skrimp said, adding Clover Hill collected more than 1,000 coats last year.
