222 Bypass Traffic Study Coming

Upper Macungie Supervisors give permission for a proposed conceptual traffic study by Liberty Property Trust to continue. The Bethlehem-based developer wants to build two 1-million-square-foot warehouses near the site.

A conceptual traffic study that could help alleviate problems at the intersection of the Route 222 bypass and Mill Creek Road has been OK'd by Upper Macungie Supervisors. Bethlehem-based developer Liberty Property Trust is moving forward with the traffic study as part of its desire to build two 1-million-square-foot warehouses on property near Air Products. Supervisors instructed Liberty officials to go into more detail with PennDOT to provide a final traffic design for the intersection. "We're at the very preliminary stages," said Liberty Property Trust senior project manager Bill Bumber. Former Air Products CEO Dexter F. Baker Dies

Former Air Products CEO Dexter F. Baker, 85, died Nov. 1, the company announced.

  Former Air Products CEO and area philanthropist Dexter F. Baker died Nov. 1, the company announced. He was 85. Baker, who joined Air Products in 1952, had been chairman of the board and chief executive officer from 1986-1992, after serving the company in several advancing roles.  “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dexter’s wife Dottie and his family," said John McGlade, Air Products’ chairman, president and chief executive officer, in a release.  "Dexter was very forward-thinking and our company and all of our employees owe him a debt of gratitude for his leadership. Liberty Property Trust Seeks To Build Trexlertown Warehouses

The Upper Macungie Planning Commission heard preliminary plans for Liberty Property Trust's plans to subdivide property near Air Products.

Liberty Property Trust appeared before the the Upper Macungie Planning Commission Wednesday night to discuss a subdivision of existing parcels of land owned by the company and Air Products in Trexlertown. The company plans to build two warehouse buildings at a cost of $150 million at Mill Creek Road between the Route 222 bypass and Hamilton Boulevard. "We've been in front of the commission with a sketch plan," said Bill Bumber, senior project manager for Liberty Property Trust. "We're going to address (the Planning Commission's) comments and come back again. The 200 acre plan is broken into two lots -- 88.9193 acres and 112.5816 acres. Air Products Developmental Bike Race Tonight

The race is the flagship event of the summer at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Trexlertown with Air Products celebrating its 35th year of involvment.

The finals of the 35th Air Products Developmental program will take place tonight at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center tonight in Trexlertown. It's the flagship event of the summer at the Velodrome. Program participants practiced skills throughout the summer for a chance to be crowned Air Products champion. The Air Products Developmental Program is responsible for creating nine Olympians and three medals. Two of these medals belong to Marty Nothstein and the third was collected only weeks ago in the 2012 London Games by Lauren Tamayo in Team Pursuit. The program provides children ages 5 through 18 a track bike, helmet, and a USA Cycling certified coach to introduce them to the sport. Adult classes are available for $60. Air Products …

At Lehigh Valley Arts Council rally, companies talk about how music, theater, dance help with economic development.

Bethlehem candy manufacturer Just Born Inc. realizes that man does not live by Peeps alone. Sometimes he needs art. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Last week, the Lehigh Valley Arts Council held a rally for the arts and I’m pretty sure it was the first rally I’ve ever attended that opened with an organ recital. The music was courtesy of Allen Organ Co. in Macungie, host of the event at which artists and arts groups from around the region received small state grants. The grants – some as little as $437 – are for local groups and individuals who bring music, dance, theater and artwork to people all over the Valley, especially those who might not otherwise have access to it.  The rally was also a chance for business people to talk about why …

Air Products, based in Trexlertown, has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for 2011-12. Each year, Sustainable Asset Management Group, based in Zurich, Switzerland, invites the largest 2,500 companies across 57 industry groups within the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index to participate in an annual review. Inclusion on the World Index ranks Air Products among the top 10 percent of companies globally within its industry sector. Factors used to determine top companies include economic, environmental and social performance factors including corporate governance, risk management, climate chain mitigation and labor practices. Air Products Activates Solar Panels

Trexlertown company expects to save $250,000 per year on energy costs.

Air Products of Trexlertown activated more than 11,000 solar panels at its Trexlertown location Tuesday, according to this report from the Morning Call. The report said the company the 15-acre solar farm will power the three of the company's six administrative buildings and save $250,000 in energy costs. Installation of the 11,000 solar photovoltaic system panels at Air Products' Trexlertown campus required more than $12,000 in escrow deposits to facilitate a battery of inspections by Upper Macungie Township officials. The report said Air Products received a $1 million grant from the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Financing Authority for the solar panel projects.

Air Products Purchases New Mexico Business

The purchased company makes semiconductor products and employs 100.

Air Products, based in Trexlertown, said Wednesday it purchased a New Mexico-based company that makes products for the semiconductor industry, according to this Morning Call report. The report says Air Products purchased Poly-Flow Engineering of Albuquerque, M.M. from its parent company Ktech Corporation. The report says the company has 100 employees.
