Gas Prices Remain Steady this Week

Find the cheapest gas in Upper Macungie.

In the last month, gas prices have jumped about 30 cents in Upper Macungie, but this last week saw little change, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. The surge in gasoline prices has been driven somewhat by rising crude oil prices but more directly because of refinery maintenance issues. This has meant less gasoline being produced and fewer supplies, which has pushed prices higher. According to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report, the current national average retail price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.782 up 3.4 cents from a week ago, up 43.5 cents from last month and 8.4 cents higher than a year ago. In Pennsylvania, today’s average price of self-serve gasoline is $3.799 per gallon up 2.6 cents from a week ago, 27.9 cents higher…

2012 Was Most Expensive Year For Gas, AAA Says

2012 was an expensive year to drive.

If you found your wallet a little lighter at the end of 2012, your driving may have something to do with that. AAA reports that 2012 was the most expensive year on record for gas prices with a national average of $3.60. The year before, 2011, takes second place with an average of $3.51 and 2008 comes in third with an average of $3.25. “Record high gas prices have made this the most expensive year yet for motorists,” said Jenny M. Robinson, Manager of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic in a press release. “Factors as volatile as major hurricanes, refinery outages and tension in the Middle East resulted in significant frustration for people filling up their cars.” Pennsylvania was not one of the most expensive states for gas…

AAA Lists Best Cars for Senior Citizens

New study by AAA shows most older drivers have a car that's not the best for them

With nearly 90 percent of motorists 65 and older suffering from health issues that affect driving safety, finding a car that not only adapts to conditions, such as lack of flexibility or muscle strength, while maintaining safety and comfort can be difficult.   Data from a new AAA survey also reveals that only one in 10 senior drivers with aging health issues are driving a vehicle that has features like keyless entry and larger dashboard controls that can assist with such conditions. To better equip the “silver tsunami” for driving safety and comfort, AAA has updated its Smart Features for Older Drivers resource to address a broader range of health conditions and include new data on 2012 vehicle features.  As a leading advocate for senior …
