Obituary: Janice Shovelin, Good Shepherd Physical Therapist

Janice A. Shovelin, 58, of Allentown, died Monday, March 18, 2013.

Janice A. Shovelin, 58, of Allentown, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2013 at home. She was the wife of Frank Shovelin. They were married 31 years. Born in Allentown on March 28, 1954, she was a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Steirer) Hoderman. Jan was a 1972 graduate of Dieruff High School. She also graduated from Lehigh County Community College in 1982 with a degree in Physical Therapy. Prior to attending LCCC, Jan worked for Mack Trucks in the accounting department. After graduating from LCCC, she worked at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital in Allentown for 24 years prior to becoming ill. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Ferrel George, 96, Ritz Barbecue, LV Dairy Worker [Obituary]

Ferrel M. George, 96, of Schnecksville, died March 19.

Ferrel M. George, 96, of Schnecksville, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the home of his daughter. He was the husband of 75 years to the late Gertrude I. George. Ferrel was the son of the late Morris S. and Katie Estella (Sterner) George. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church for over 60 years. He performed many volunteer duties at the church. Frank Joseph Riemer, 83, of Whitehall, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013.

Frank Joseph Riemer, 83, of Whitehall, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 27, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospital.  He was the husband of Theresa (Franz) Riemer, to whom he was married over 59 years.  Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Studney) Riemer. Frank operated Riemer’s Economy Grocery Store on Chew Street with his father for more than 20 years. He later worked for the US Postal Services as a mail carrier in Whitehall.  Frank was a Corporal in the US Army and served in Germany after WWII.  He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fogelsville and the former St. James Lutheran Church, Allentown. Parkland grad and Penn Nursing student Ayra Singh died unexpectedly Feb. 8 in Philadelphia.

Arya Singh, 20, of Allentown, died unexpectedly on Friday, 2/8/13 in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Born in Allahabad, India, she was the daughter of Dr. Narendra and Sujata Singh. She was a Parkland High School graduate and was in her Junior Year at the University of Pennsylvania studying nursing. Arya had an infectious smile and was a constant source of joy and laughter in the lives of her family and friends. She will make heaven a happier place. Cora G. L. Fleming, 91, of Breinigsville, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013 in the home of her daughter, Bonnie Fleming-Jacoby. She was the wife of the late Linford R. Fleming who passed away in 2009.  She was predeceased by her first husband Horace “Pete” LaRue, who served on the USS Yosemite, off the coast of Japan, after the bombing of Hiroshima. Cora was born in Pineville, Bucks County, a daughter of the late Russell R. and Laura Gill (Krewson) German. Carol Scott Palmer, 78, of Macungie, passed away Saturday in Lehigh Center, Macungie.  She was the wife of Harry E. Palmer. They were married 56 years last June. Carol was an office manager for K-Mart in Mesa, AZ, for 26 years before retiring in 1997. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late William and Florence Scott. Paul J. Siegfried, Jr., 79 of Alburtis passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in his home. He was the husband of Barbara Ann M. (Epting) Siegfried. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on April 18, 2012. Born in Alburtis, he was a son of the late Paul J. Sr. and Edna M. (Lohrman) Siegfried. With his father he owned and operated Siegfried’s Garage. He also worked as an estimator for Bally Case and Cooler for 20 years. He retired from  Lutron Electronics in 1998, but returned and has worked part time until recently.   Louis J. Laubscher, 82, of Breinigsville, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Hospice Unit of the Wilkes Barre VA Medical Center.  He was the husband of Mary (Savignano) Laubscher.  Born in Salem, Ohio, and later growing up in Monaca, PA, he was the son of the late Louis J. and Helen (Zindren) Laubscher. Before retiring in 1992, he worked for Ford Motor Company and also as a taxi driver for New York City.  He was an Army veteran serving in occupied Japan and during the Korean War. William L. Damiano, 77, founder of Premise Maid Candies in Breinigsville, died Saturday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Hospice Unit in Allentown.

William L. Damiano, 77, founder of Premise Maid Candies in Breinigsville died Saturday in the Hospice Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown after battling Parkinson’s Disease for 29 years. He was the husband of Frances (Cannariato) Damiano. They were married 54 years in October. Born in Nesquehoning, he was a son of the late Anthony and Carmella (Cardinale) Damiano. Bill was a professional and chemical engineer for Air Products and Chemicals Inc. Trexlertown. He earned a master of business administration degree from Lehigh University.
