I thought that this is LOWER MACUNGIE PATCH, what is it with all these stories about different areas…Read More then LMT??????????????????
Susan Koomar (Editor) June 8, 2013 at 02:56 pm
Hi Dave, odd/interesting police items are popular on all of our Patches so we're posting this new…Read More roundup of such items from our Patches across eastern Pa.

No one will dispute any economic benefit to Upper Macungie Township these warehouses bring, what is…Read More a concern is the appropriate planning and thought into how much is too much. Traffic is a big concern to our community and IMO it is getting worse by the day. Truckers have a job to do, but as with people who rent a home rather then own, there is less accountability to the environment and areas around us. Do the truckers care if they argue with or drive "not perfect" in our neighborhoods, they do not live here, they are just.."passing through". That whole area on Tilghman is a disgusting mess. Roach motel, truck stop, pharmacy, bars and gas stations...what kind of element do you think is going to be around? That whole corner is an eyesore on the community. Another big problem, who is controlling the building and approvals of it? Developers/Builders or the UMT Supervisor board? I often wonder how much they can do. Mr. Jaindl does what he wants or he builds a rock quarry...ask LMT. As for the resources, hopefully these companies (i.e. Amazon) pay for the police force, you should see some of the scary people working there at Christmas. SOS Upper Mac! Scary times ahead! Get involved and be heard citizens! Plenty of people who care!

@ silent voice... I certainly do not make u-turns in the middle of the road, nor do I block traffic…Read More with a large semi truck . I also do not run lights or make turns or lane changes without a signal...I'm a responsible adult and the mother of three children -- I take my driving responsibility and the safety of my family seriously. I don't drive impaired, either...or in bad weather if I can avoid it. I don't understand the purpose of your comment at all. When a large tractor trailer refuses to give right of way and forces a motorist into oncoming traffic there is no excuse for that behavior. It's dangerous & irresponsible.

@silent voice I guess it makes it alright then to do it since everyone does it

No one has respect Michael, that is a problem nationwide. Kids grow up with a sense of entitlement…Read More and the parents set no boundaries. The gun rights folks think we should just arm everyone. That will solve all the problems. Very sad state of affairs. Hope they catch these people.
Beth June 5, 2013 at 12:50 am
John, You talk about the lack of respect being the problem, yet you engage in tearing apart your…Read More neighbors that don't agree with your point of veiw with most of your posts. You don't even realize it. Also, who made you the expert on what our founding fathers intended? Your arrogance is astounding.

Good luck Jenn...this has been going on for years. The criminals love our township, open season.…Read More Very sad.

I wonder if the Nixle report will tell you where they are setting up stinky pinch operations for the…Read More day. Or for the uninformed hiding for the purpose of catching drivers in a speed trap, or not stopping completely at a stop sign and I mean counting to 3 then going... We would love that...
John Anderson May 29, 2013 at 04:52 pm
I am sorry Ala58, not one to go this route but you are an idiot. The local police established and…Read More implemented Nixle sometime ago to assist residence in becoming more informed with what takes place in our community. They worked hard in publicizing this process and what it can do for the community. I for one believe knowledge is important, rather then living in a bubble. You must be one of those people who speeds through our community and has the benefit of getting away with it most of the time because, for those of you that did not know this, the local police are unable to use the appropriate tools to enforce this issue, radar is not allowed by local officials. Only the State Police who spend the majority of time on the interstates, not keeping our "local" neighborhoods safe. Speeding and the clueless people who do not know how to navigate a stop sign are in my opinion BIG problems in Upper Macungie. If the police gave you a ticket, good for them, if they are setting up speed traps, good for them. Be a responsible driver and don't add to the problem of excessive speed in our community, look at the bypass and the local roads, I see people driving like morons all the time. Sad thing, it is mostly residents. I hope they continue to enforce the rules and hold people accountable, speed traps are part of life. Be RESPONSIBLE, do NOTHING wrong and you have NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

The criminals will keep coming back as long as people continue to be clueless and leave items and…Read More unlocked cars. Amazing how no one listens. No opportunities, they will stop doing it. I am sure these people are laughing, open season for them. Let's listen to the police!

At 16 the parents should be responsible for some of this. They should have a better idea of where…Read More this kid was, who he was with and why was a fire reported so late at night (early in the morning) 2:18 a.m. What time was his curfew? Nothing happens that is positive that late at night at that age.
Jenn F May 25, 2013 at 06:22 pm
Absolutely agree with you, My2Cents--this kid should have been home long before being discovered at…Read More the park. I also hope the people who provided alcohol to this kid are also charged with something--that is ridiculous and should include hefty fines and/or jail time.
John Anderson May 22, 2013 at 04:47 pm
I wonder how long this will continue to go on (years) before people realize they need to be…Read More vigilant. Seriously folks, the criminals are laughing at our community. Of course, they are going to keep coming back because we as residents are doing NOTHING to protect ourselves. I go on walks and see how many people leave things in the car, doors open. No one likes to see this and quality of life issues, but opportunity will present itself and people will take it. Now, the fact these individuals are walking around the neighborhood is scary in itself, but PLEASE help the Police, use your brain and make an effort. If we all try, it will stop! Summer is here, this will just continue!

Great idea - make people scared to use the services our tax dollars provide. These types of things…Read More will be misconstrued by younger people afraid to call 911 in fear that they will be reprimanded if it turns out the services were not needed. Tough times should not scare people from calling 911.
