Volleyball and Two Charity Bike Races This Weekend in Upper Mac

Computer classes, swimming with the family, wine tasting and a back-to-school event at the Lehigh Valley Mall also highlight weekend events.

Another summer weekend of festive fun is upon us and we've got the goods to help you make choices concerning how to have some fun.

Here's what's going on this weekend in and around Upper Macungie:

  • Volleyball players are still in luck, but time is running out! Summer volleyball Sundays run through the end of August at Upper Macungie Park on Route 100. Youth games run from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and adult games are played between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. 
  • The Camp Fowler Festif, a charity bike race, kicks off Saturday at 9 a.m. from Camp Fowler, 5851 Horseshoe Rd in Orefield. Entertainment includes a DJ and a mini-rodeo. For more information, click here. 
  • The Ride for Adam picnic and motorcycle ride fundraiser will be held from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Schnecksville Fire Company. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Non-stop ride from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Picnic from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by fireworks. $25 donation, free for children under 15. For more information, contact Carol Laub at 610-760-2832 or carol@opp-knock.com. 
  • A computer basics class will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Parkland Community Library. This session will cover setting up a free email account and will review email practices. Call 610-398-1361 for information. The library is located at 4422 Walbert Ave. in Allentown.
  • The Terry Hill Water Park, located at 10000 Hamilton Boulevard in Breinigsville, is open from noon to 6 p.m. all weekend. The park offers fun for the whole family featuring rainbow slides, a Wild River, a Lazee River, a Tarzan rope and a diving board. The park also features a miniature golf course. Amenities include free use of picnic tables and lounge chairs as well as hot showers and parking. A refreshment stand sells ice cream, hot dogs, hamburgers, snow cones, sodas and iced tea.
  • Generations Wine Tasting is featured Saturday and Sunday at Clover Hill Winery, located at 9850 Newtown Road in Breinigsville. Generations is a reserve label of Clover Hill wines that are produced in limited quantities.  The new releases are: Riesling, N-Chard and Three.   • The nearby Lehigh Valley Zoo in Schnecksville is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
  • There's plenty of entertainment at the Molten Lounge at Sands Bethlehem this weekend. On Saturday, it's Emily's Toybox at 9:30 p.m. On Sunday, Large Flowerheads entertain starting at 8 p.m.
  • St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, at 1879 Applewood Drive in Orefield, holds Sunday Masses at 7 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
  • St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, at 1028 Church Street in Fogelsville, holds Sunday Worship at 9:30 a.m.
  • St. John's UCC Church, at 1027 Church Street in Fogelsville, also holds Sunday Worship. Call 610-398-7015 for times.
  • St. Paul's UCC Church, located at the corner of Trexlertown Road and Church Lane in Trexlertown, holds a Traditional Worship at 9 a.m. and a Contemporary Worship at 10:30 a.m.
