Musikfest, Movies-in-the-Park Top Upper Mac Weekend Events

Browse the Parkland Community Library Book Sale, take a trip to the Lehigh Valley Zoo or go see some gross stuff in Allentown.

Another August weekend is upon us. It's time to get out and enjoy it, before summer quickly comes to an end.

Here's the local weather forecast for the weekend, from the National Weather Service.

Now, here's a look at what's happening in and around Upper Macungie Township this weekend.

  • The summer's final installment of Movies-in-the-Park is scheduled for Friday at Breinigsville Park with a screening of "The Pirates: Band of Misfits." Bring your own lawn chair and/or blanket. Activities for kids will begin at 7 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk. Refreshments will be available.
  • The Parkland Community Library will hold its 23rd annual Book Sale Friday and Saturday at the Asbury Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Rd, Allentown. Friday hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is sponsored by Friends of the Parkland Community Library.
  • A Computer Basics Internet Skills class will be held at Parkland Community Library, located at 4422 Walbert Ave. in Allentown on Saturday at 9 a.m. Call 610-398-1361 for details.
  • The Gress Mountain Ranch, located at 3264 Highland Road in Orefield, will hold a Barn Sale, beginning Friday at 8 a.m. 
  • There's entertainment all weekend long at the Molten Lounge in Sands Bethlehem. On Friday, The Exceptions perform at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Pete Moss & The Fertilizers take the stage at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Jimmy and the Parrots entertain beginning at 8 p.m.
  • The Terry Hill Water Park, located at 10000 Hamilton Boulevard in Breinigsville, is open from swimming Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
  • Kids hungry? Fill 'em up Sunday at the Buckeye Tavern, located at 3741 Brookside Road in Macungie. Kids eat free all day Sunday.
  • The Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown again features its"Grossology," exhibit. Friday and Saturday hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday hours are from noon to 5 p.m. Prices are $11.95 for adults, $9.95 for children 4 to 12 and $9.95 for seniors and military personnel.
