Big Parkland Game, 'Oliver,' Zumbathon: Your Weekend

Also, Christkindlmarkt opens for the first time this season Thursday and through the weekend.

It's shaping up to be a busy weekend, from football to stage productions to holiday festivities.

Following their win in Whitehall last weekend, the Parkland Trojans return home to Orefield Friday for another Lehigh Valley Conference rematch with Easton High School.

Kick-off for the District 11 championship is 7 p.m.  The winner will play St. Joseph's Prep School in Philadelphia in a state quarter-final.

Also this weekend:

—More than 125 artisans and vendors will be on hand as the tents at Christkindlmarkt open for the first time this season Thursday and through the weekend.

Recognized as one of the top holiday markets in the world by Travel + Leisure magazine, Christkindlmarkt features aisles of handmade works by the nation’s finest artisans; traditional and contemporary holiday music; and a variety of food from vendors offering bratwursts, strudel, German roasted almonds, barbeque and more.

Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem hours are Thursday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Advance tickets for Christkindlmarkt are $8 for ages 13 and older, $4 for ages 6-12, and admission is free for ages 5 and under. ArtsQuest members are also admitted free.

Stagemakers at the J in Allentown present "Oliver!," a British musical based off of the Charles Dickens' novel Oliver Twist.  Performances are at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday at the JCC in Allentown.

Join the Steel Fitness Premier group fitness instructors from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in Upper Macungie for a Zumba event to  benefit the Angela Rene Pessina Foundation Fund. Pessina, a fitness instructor, died in a car accident a year ago.

Get up close with some of the Wildlands Conservancy's animals and learn about their winter adaptations. Furry and feathered friends will be on hand from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Trexler Environmental Center, 4935 Orchard Road, Schnecksville. Get your Christmas shopping started while you sample holiday cocktails as the downtown stores of the north and south side in Bethlehem host their annual Christmas Open House on Saturday. For $25, you can buy a passport to sample holiday cocktails—like a Rude Elf Hot Toddy, Jingle Juice or Spiced Egg Nog—at participating shops. The Cocktail Trail will be on from 1 to 5 p.m. You must be at least 21 years old to partake.

—The JCC of Allentown is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair for all ages. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday and 9:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. 

LCTI hosts an open house at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the school in Schnecksville.
