This Week in Upper Mac: School Open Houses and Night at The Movies

Fall weather has settled in, high school sports are in full swing and festival time is around the corner.

Here's what you need to know this week in and around Upper Macungie Township:

• The Parkland School District is closed Friday in observance of Yom Kippur.
  

• Jaindl Elementary School will hold its PTO Welcome Back Social at 7 p.m. Monday, followed by a PTO meeting at 7:30 p.m.

• Fogelsville Elementary School and Orefield Middle School will hold Open Houses Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

• Parkland High School will host its Open House Thursday at 7 p.m.

• Youth Night is on tap Friday night when Parkland High School hosts Northampton in a Lehigh Valley Conference football game at 7 p.m.

• The Parkland Community Library, located at 4422 Walbert Ave. in South Whitehall will hold its monthly Night at the Movies on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Each month, the library hosts the exclusive screening of a unique and often award-winning film. • The second annual Angel 34 Foundation/Valley Preferred Wheels for Hope will take place Saturday at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center at 1151 Mosser Road in Breinigsville. Click here for more information and how to register. The Budweiser Clydesdales of Super Bowl commercial fame will appear from noon to 3 p.m.

• Lottery players take note! Monday's draw for the Pennsylvania Match 6 Lotto jackpot is now worth $5.3 million. It's the third largest jackpot in the history of the game.

• The Parkland Community Library will hold a Thursday seminar on raising fiscally responsible kids, hosted by Marie Maritch of Magellan Financial. Call 610-398-1361 to RSVP.

• Clover Hill Winery in Breinigsville is celebrating its 28th anniversary from Thursday through Sunday. Come in during that time and receive a 28% discount on all wines.
