This Week: Book Quest, Emergency Preparedness and PTO Meetings

Fogelsville Elementary School will host a pizza social and movie night Friday while Orefield Middle School will hold a dance on Friday.


Another new work and school week is about to begin, so here's what you need to know this week in and around Upper Macungie:

  • Fires, tornados, flooding, winter storms. Do you have an emergency plan? Learn how to be better prepared if disaster strikes by joining local first responders at the fifth annual Emergency Preparedness Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke's West End Medical Center in South Whitehall. Residents will have a chance to learn from local police, fire and emergency medical workers at the day-long event which is sponsored by Upper Macungie, South Whitehall and North Whitehall townships.
  • The Parkland Community Library's Book Quest group will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday to discuss "Turn of Mind," by Alice LaPlante. New members are always welcome. The library is located at 4422 Walbert Ave. in South Whitehall.
  • The Fogelsville Elementary School Parent/Teacher Organization will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
  • A Parent Forum Meeting will be held at Parkland High School Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Room C220.
  • Jaindl Elementary School will hold its Open House Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 
  • The Parkland School Board will hold a 7 p.m. workshop meeting an 8 p.m. agenda meeting at the school district's headquarters, located at 1210 Springhouse Road in South Whitehall.
  • The Upper Macungie Planning Commission will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the township building, located at 8330 Schantz Road in Breinigsville.
  • Fogelsville Elementary School will hold a pizza social and movie night at 6 p.m. Friday. 
  • Orefield Middle School will hold a school dance from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.
  • The Parkland High School football team will hit the road to Bethlehem Friday night to take on Liberty High School at 7 p.m.
