Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery Invites You to a Cooking Contest

Every year Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery coordinates a fun event with the Great Allentown Fair to hold a cooking contest during the fair week.  This year is no exception.  Typically shortly after the Great Allentown Fair fall weather with cooler temperatures creep into our area.  There is nothing better to warm you on a cool fall day than a nice hearty soup.  This year cooking contest is not just any soup; it is a Seafood Soup Contest.  Your challenge is to create an original recipe for Seafood Bisque, Seafood Chowder or Seafood Stew using any Clover Hill wine as an ingredient.  We not only look forward to your creativity but it is your invitation to become a part of Clover Hill’s library of recipes.

There are only a few rules to the contest other than to get creative, have fun and your original recipe must include any Clover Hill wine as an ingredient.  You decide whether it is a soup, stew or chowder.  All recipes become the property of Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery and we will be sure to share your recipe with other customers - you will become Clover Hill famous!  The only other rule is that the Clover Hill wine bottle label and typed recipe must accompany your entry.  Simple - right?!?

Another fun part of the event is that the judging is done live in the Agri-Plex Building and you are welcome to join us for this live judging on Friday, August 29th at 7pm.  The soup will be judged on taste appeal (60%), appearance (20%) and originality of the recipe (20%).  Prizes will be awarded; first place winner earns a $200 Clover Hill gift card, second place a $125 Clover Hill gift card and third place a $75 Clover Hill gift card.  Those gift cards will get you a lot of bottles of wine.  Fourth and fifth place winners will win a bottle of Clover Hill wine!

While many Clover Hill wines can be found at the Pennsylvania Wine & Spirit Stores you are more than welcome to come to one of Clover Hill's four locations to sample the wine you might be interested in using as your ingredient.  Our four locations include the Clover Hill wine store in the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmer's Market, the winery in Breinigsville, the Bocov’s Fairgrounds Farmer's Market and our Vineyard in Robesonia.  If you choose to visit us at one of our Farmer’s Market locations you will be able to shop for all of your other ingredients at the same time.  It can’t get much fresher than that.

So put on your creative hat and try your ladle in creating a new recipe.  The deadline for entry, August 2nd, is fast approaching so you can download the entry form and learn more details about the event at http://www.allentownfairpa.org/.  Happy Cooking!
