Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery at the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmer's Market

Learn how to pair wine and food at the Clover Hill Wine Store in the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmer's Market during free pairings the second Saturday of every month.

Spring truly is coming which is followed by summer which translates to shedding those bulky sweaters and long pants.  Are we all ready for shorts, skirts and sleeveless or short sleeved shirts?  One way to help us prepare for this season is to be sure we are eating healthy.  One of the best places I know to get good and fresh, healthy foods is by shopping at the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmer’s Market.  The Farmer’s Market, at 17th and Chew Streets in Allentown, is a wonderful place to pick up your fresh fruit, vegetables, lean cuts of meats plus the added bonus of so many vendors offering freshly prepared foods that are healthy and tasty, making it easy to give up less healthy choices.

Keeping healthy choices in mind while at the market be sure to visit Clover Hill’s Wine Store and stock up on your favorite wines. Many doctors tell their patients to drink a glass or two of wine a day for its health benefits.

On a regular basis we get questions about pairing wines with foods and our knowledgeable staff is always willing to offer suggestions.  Another way to learn about this is to visit our wine store the second Saturday of every month for our free wine and food pairings.

Our April wine and food pairing is perfect timing for your Easter Dinner.  On April 12th we will feature old fashioned double smoked ham from S. Clyde Weaver’s, also at the Allentown Farmer’s Market, made with a glaze from our Clover Hill Holiday wine.  We will pair this scrumptious ham with our DeChaunac wine.  DeChaunac is semi-sweet and has a lot of earthy flavors that will compliment the earthiness of this smoked ham.  Plus the sweetness of the wine will compliment the sweetness of the Holiday wine used to make the glaze.  We will have recipe cards available so you can duplicate this perfect, but easy, glaze when you get home.  We will also feature a fully cooked kielbasa from Baringer’s Meats, also at the Allentown Farmer’s Market, paired with our off-dry Turtle Rock Red wine.  The spices in the kielbasa will be toned down a bit from the ever so slight sweetness of the Turtle Rock Red wine.  The added bonus to these pairings is we always partner with the vendors at the Farmer’s Market so it is convenient to purchase these foods to prepare at home.

Mark you calendar and be sure to visit our Clover Hill wine store April 12th and every second Saturday of each month for a new wine and food pairing.  By participating in 12 wine and food pairings over the course of a year you will soon become a wine and food pairing scholar.
