Recently I committed to start eating healthier with more fish, fresh vegetables, fruits and meats whenever possible, which gets challenging to do in the middle of winter. Also a few months ago I made a decision to do a better job of supporting our local businesses by buying local. At the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmer’s Market I can meet both initiatives. I paid a visit to the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmer’s Market at 17th and Chew Streets in Allentown and I found the market to be very clean, organized and all the vendors very friendly. With more than 65 merchants, I am able to complete my list with just one stop. I found the quality of my purchases to be extremely fresh which leaves me feeling like I picked it from my backyard garden . . . even in the dead of winter. The variety of stands are vast spanning from meats, poultry, produce, WINE, cheeses, deli, baked goods, WINE, gourmet shops, seafood, WINE, candy, snacks, coffee, restaurants (ranging from Chinese to Mediterranean to pizza and to seafood) and WINE.
Oh, and did I mention Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery is at the market with their WINES . . . every week? There is a beautiful store featuring the full line of wines, which you can sample before you make a decision on your purchases. They also have a lovely display of wine racks and unique wine related merchandise. Once a month, usually the second Saturday, Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery offers amazing food and wine pairing samples. Typically they partner with another vendor at the market and put together scrumptious food and wine pairings that make your taste buds say Thank You!
