Monday marked the first official day of high school sports practice in Pennsylvania, and although the day started with rain showers, skies brightened enough to allow Parkland High School's football team to get in a double session.

The Trojans, under veteran head coach Jim Morgans, lost many key players to graduation but will still have some lofty goals again this year after an 11-3 season, a District 11 championship and a trip to the PIAA playoffs.

On Monday, Patch caught the Trojans going through several skills-based drills during the afternoon practice.

Parkland will get a taste of action against an opponent Saturday morning, when the team travels to Wilson West Lawn for an 11 a.m. scrimmage.

I can appreciate the pre-season articles, however, limiting them to a single sport seems somewhat exclusionary. If I were attempting to grow readers, I might suggest including all fall sports, which might increase readership. You have a potentially growing medium, which pertains to local news. Some find this much better than reading about stories that have no direct impact on day-to-day lives in Upper Macungie.
