A World of Bicycles Comes to Trexlertown this Weekend

Trexlertown hosts "Velofest" Saturday, a bike swap Sunday and caters to professionals, beginners and collectors.

Trexlertown is the center of the cycling world with the velodrome, , acting as its gravitational pull.

On Oct. 1, the Cycling Center hosts the largest outdoor cycling market on the East Coast. From 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Known as the “concrete crater,” the velodrome will have more than 200 vendors, and it attracts 3,000 to 4,000 people, according to the Cycling Center.

And if you don’t overdose on bike enthusiasm on Saturday, on Sunday there’s an Antique and Classic Bicycle Show and Swap Meet just around the corner from the velodrome. The host this annual event run by Paul's Bicycle Shop Inc.

At the Antique and Classic Bicycle Swap Meet there will be thousands of parts, hundreds of bikes, high-wheelers, low wheelers, vintage BMX, old bikes, new bikes, balloon tire bikes, middleweights, whizzers and krates, according to the event flyer.

So, this weekend you can get advice from world-class racers, get a new or used bike, and perhaps dig that antique out of your basement and trade up.
