Will Parkland Follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Freddy Awards?

Parkland is one of 31 schools competing in the 12th annual Freddy Awards next year.

It's a pretty familiar story: Kansas girl winds up in a faraway land, makes friends, defeats a witch, sings some songs, learns there's no place like home.

This spring, you'll get to see Parkland High School's take on The Wizard of Oz, as it joins dozens of other local schools in the 12th annual Freddy Awards.

Held each year at Easton's State Theatre, the Freddys celebrate the best of local high school theater. Last year, Parkland's Phantom of the Opera took home six awards, including Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical.

The Wizard of Oz will take the stage April 9-13 next year, with the Freddy Awards scheduled for Thursday, May 22. Parkland will be up against 30 other schools—the most ever—including Freddy newcomers Salisbury and the Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School.
