ViewFinder: Parkland's Mike Ottinger Wins State Wrestling Championship

The 160-pound senior claimed a PIAA title Saturday at the Giant Center in Hershey as Trojan team finished fifth in the state.

A Patch  in early January spelled out exactly what the Parkland wrestler's future goal was for the season -- to win a state title at 160 pounds.

Ottinger achieved that goal Saturday at the Giant Center in Hershey, winning the PIAA 3A state crown at 160 pounds with a 3-2 ultimate tiebreaker victory over Jason Luster of Pittsburgh Central Catholic.

Freshman Ethan Lizak  was the PIAA 3A state runnerup at 103 pounds when he was nipped 3-2 by junior Billy Rappo of Council Rock South in the finals of that weight class.

Parkland's Tarek Haddad (215 pounds) placed eighth in the state in 3A with teammates Mike Fake (125 pounds) and Justin Heller at (145 pounds), taking seventh and eighth respectively, lifting the Trojans to a fifth-place overall finish with 56 points. That was tops among all District 11 and Lehigh Valley schools.
