ViewFinder: Parkland Donates Pounds of Food To Second Harvest
The two-week food drive was district wide.
More than 15,000 pounds of food was headed to the Second Harvest Food Bank on Friday, the culmination of the Parkland School District's two-week food drive held in all its 13 buildings.
The food was all taken to Parkland High School, in part so students could see the totality of their efforts, and loaded onto delivery trucks by staff and students representatives in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Plans called for the students to take a trip to Second Harvest on Friday to tour the facility and learn about the food bank’s operations. The field trip aims to give Parkland students an opportunity to see the impact of people working together for a common good and to raise awareness about hunger.
