Sandy Hook Peace Painting Created with Kids' Fingerprints

Cetronia Elementary School staff created a peace painting as a gift to the new Sandy Hook Elementary School. It's made with the fingerprints of staff and students.

Cetronia Elementary School staff, devastated by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, have sent a Peace Painting as a gift to the new Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.

According to a post in the Parkland School District newsletter, the Cetronia staff came up with the idea while searching for a way to help the community to heal from the tragedy.

The painting—which depicts a dove, the universal symbol of peace—was created with the fingerprints of every student and staff member at Cetronia Elementary School, the newsletter said.

Art teacher Susan Hardy spearheaded the project.

Sensitive to what parents have chosen to share, or not share, with their children about the tragedy, the project was presented to students as "an act of kindness" for another elementary school.
