Parkland Students Collect Books for Younger Students

Members of Parkland High School's English Honor Society read from the collected books to Cleveland Elementary School students.

's English Honor Society recently collected and delivered more than 2,000 books to Cleveland Elementary School students in Allentown.

At an event on Friday, Jan. 19, at the elementary school, several members of the honor society met the students and read to them from the donated books.

English teacher Marilyn Stinebaugh, who is the honor society's advisor, said members "really have a love of English, really have a love of reading." And she said, they wanted to pass on that passion.

The book collection was the group's first philanthropic event with the national honor society.

Beverly Bradley, president of Cops 'n Kids Lehigh Valley, a non-profit that works to ensure that students have access to books, was on hand to help facilitate the program. She told the Cleveland elementary students to "have a dream" because it will always move them forward.
