Parkland OKs $9 Million Upgrade to Krazter School

$30 million in bonds paying for renovations at numerous Parkland schools.

Parkland's Kratzer Elementary is getting $9 million in upgrades over the next two years, thanks to a $10 million bond approved by the school board last week.

The board borrowed the same amount last year and plans to do the same in 2014 to pay for capital projects, according to figures presented at the Dec. 19 meeting.

Work at Kratzer includes new driveways and expanded bus parking areas, technology and classroom upgrades and a new sprinkler system.

The technology upgrades involve improvements such as a voice amplification system for teachers, new wiring, and a television studio.

The district is also planning renovations at the Orefield Middle School, HVAC work at Parkland High School, and roofing projects at Cetronia and Fogelsville schools and Springhouse Middle School.

Superintendent Rich Sniscak said last year that Kratzer was last renovated in 1991 and the district is having trouble finding replacement parts for broken items
