Parkland Hires New Tennis Coach, School Psychologist, 3 Others

The Parkland School Board approves five new hires at its meeting Tuesday night.

 

Michael Hingston of Bath is the new boys head tennis coach at Parkland High School.

The Parkland School Board at its meeting Tuesday approved Hingston's hire, effective Jan. 15, at a contracted stipend.

He replaces Julian Taibi, who resigned.

Hingston's hire was among five hires approved by the board.

Also hired:

* Matthew A. Carlson, as a school psychologist at effective date to be determined, at an annual salary of $66,000, prorated. He will replace Jenelle Walmer, who resigned.

* Rebecca Freed, of Allentown, as a temporary math teacher at Springhouse Middle School, effective Jan. 28, at an annual salary of $48,671, prorated.   Freed will be a substitute for Jennifer Karetsky, who is moving to another assignment.

* Mary E. Anderson, of Allentown, as a temporary librarian at Kernsville Elementary School, effective Jan. 23, at an annual salary of $48,671, prorated. Anderson will be a substitute for Debra Newhard, who is on a childrearing leave of absence.

* Austin D. Medernach, of Alburtis, as a part-time teaching assistant at Parkland High School, effective date to be determined, at an hourly rate of $17.79. The job is subsidized through ACCESS funds.
