Parkland School Board Approves Hires, Resignations and Retirements

The Parkland School Board approved several personnel changes, including hires, retirements and resignations, at its Dec. 18 meeting.

Hires

* Brynn Cappellari, of Orefield, as a substitute French teacher at Orefield and Springhouse middle schools, at an annual salary of $48,671, prorated, effective Dec. 11. She temporarily replaces Nicole Fortner, who is on a childrearing leave of absence.

* Kaitlin A. Tomecek, as a substitute math teacher at Parkland High School, at an annual salary of $48,671, prorated, effective Feb. 1. She temporarily replaces Jennifer Gerhart, who will be on a childrearing leave of absence. 

* Lisa C. Madeira, Spanish teacher at Springhouse Middle School, as a mentor for Brynn Cappellari, through May 2.

* Terri M. Plattner, math teacher at Parkland High School, as a mentor for Kaitlin Tomecek, through May 2.

* Elizabeth A. Smith, as children's show costume manager at Parkland High School, effective Dec. 10.

* Patricia Clauser, of Trexlertown, as Festival of the Arts adviser at Parkland High School, effective Dec. 19.

* Randy Redman, of Allentown, as boys junior varsity baseball coach at Parkland High School, effective Jan. 2, to replace Jason Henry, who resigned.

Retirements

* Douglas E. Reed, full-time custodian at Parkland High School, is retiring after 31 years of service, effective Dec. 20.

* Carol P. Adams, full-time school bus driver, is retiring after 17.5 years of service, effective Jan. 4.

* Bernard Hollod, full-day bus driver, is retiring after 15.5 years of service, effective Jan. 25.

Resignations

* Cariss A. Cole, part-time clerical receptionist at Orefield Middle School, effective Dec. 21.

* Kaitlin A. Tomecek, part-time paraprofessional at Parkland High School, effective Jan. 31.    

* Phuong C. Huynh, aide at Fred J. Jaindl Elementary School, effective Dec. 20.

Theresa A. Hollod, full-day school vehicle driver, effective Jan. 25.
