Parkland Athletes Prepare For Winter Sports

The Trojans will compete in boys and girls swimming, boys and girls basketball and wrestling.

Parkland High School athletes, following a successful fall filled with undefeated seasons and championships, are preparing for winter sports seasons that begin in December.

The always powerful boys and girls swimming and diving teams will be under the direction of new head coach as both teams look to return to the PIAA tournament. The season begins with the much-anticipated tri-meet with perennial powers State College, Hershey and North Penn visiting the Parkland pool.

Parkland's wrestling team, under the direction of , must overcome the graduation of District 11 160-pound champion Mike Ottinger. However, the program is always competitive in the Lehigh Valley Conference and District 11 and should remain so this season. The Trojans make their dual meet debut hosting Whitehall on

Parkland's boys basketball team, guided by , just last year but will look to experienced returning players after rallying from a 2-6 start to finish the season 10-12. The Trojans will rely on that experience to get through their Lehigh Valley Conference schedule and hopefully qualify for the D-11 tournament. The Trojans will begin the season against Stroudsburg.

Parkland girls basketball coach is hoping to build on the success of last season, despite a few graduated seniors. The Lady Trojans qualified for the Lehigh Valley Conference tournament and the received a high seed for the District 11 tourney last season. Spence is likely hopeful that his returnees can carry the club just as far this season. They begin play on at Saucon Valley High School.
