New Acting Principal Named At Springhouse Middle School

Parkland School Board appointed Robert L. Holmes as acting principal on Tuesday night.

The Parkland School Board on Tuesday appointed Robert L. Holmes as acting principal of .

Jeffrey A. Bartman was appointed to fill Holmes' former position as assistant principal/dean of students at the school. Bartman is currently a science teacher at .

The appointments will become effective when current Springhouse Principal Michelle Minotti Zurinskas begins her maternity leave in October for the remainder of the school year.

Holmes will receive a monthly stipend of $750 and Bartman will receive a monthly stipend of $250, in addition to their salaries. Salary information was not immediately available. 

“I’m pleased that Rob is stepping up,” Assistant told the school board. “Springhouse will continue on its course and reach the successes that it always has.”

As for Bartman, Troutman said, “the sky’s the limit,” and he will be tough to replace in the classroom.

Holmes completed his principal’s certification at the Pennsylvania State University in 2004. He has served as the assistant principal/dean of students at Springhouse for six years.

Holmes also served as acting principal for Springhouse Middle School from May 2008 through January 2009 when the principal was on leave. Prior to that, Holmes taught English at Parkland High School for eight years.

In a written statement, said, “Rob has done an outstanding job in his current and past positions at Parkland and works tirelessly to offer support and meaningful activities for Parkland students. He possesses the direct relevant job experience required to lead Springhouse Middle School.”

Bartman has taught science at Orefield Middle School since 1996. He completed his principal’s certification at Wilkes University in 2006.

In a written statement, Sniscak said, “Mr. Bartman is very eager to take on a leadership role … He possesses highly effective communication and interpersonal skills that allow him to be effective with children, parents, teachers, community members and fellow administrators.”
