School Board member Robert Bold said at a recent board meeting that the district's Education Foundation has so far raised $71,000.

The district's Education Foundation was established in 2011 as a way to create new revenue streams for the district. The foundation is designed to foster creativity and innovation, not only in terms of new monies for the district but also in funding enrichment opportunities for students and staff in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Grants will be made in June, Bold has said.

In setting up the non-profit foundation, the Parkland School District joined a growing list of schools in the Lehigh Valley that have done so, including Saucon Valley, Southern Lehigh and Allentown school districts.
