High School Students From Region To Perform At Festival

The performances at Parkland High School on Friday and Saturday are open to the public.

Top high school singers from the eastern part of the state are converging at  for the Region V Chorus Festival concerts today, Feb. 25, and Saturday.

Sponsored by the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, the students are from schools in 15 counties, including Lehigh and Northampton counties.

To qualify to participate in the prestigious festival, students first had to audition at the district level and place high enough during a re-audition at the district level festival,  held in January.

Rodney Caldwell from Susquehanna University is the guest conductor.

On Thursday morning, the students filled the high school stage as they rehearsed for the weekend performances. The concerts are open to the public.

What: Region V Chorus Festival

When/Where: Two concerts at Parkland High School are open to the public. Tonight (Feb. 25), the performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 26, the performance is at 2 p.m. 

What: Musical selections from various styles, cultures, and historical periods will be performed. 

Cost: Tickets are $7 and will be available at the door.
