Weis Fuel Station Under Planners' Scrutiny Again

The Upper Macungie Planning Commission will examine revised plans for the eight-pump fuel station, slated for the Weis Shopping Center in Fogelsville.

The Upper Macungie Planning Commission, at its Wednesday night agenda meeting, will consider a resubmission of preliminary/final plans for the proposed Weis Gas-N-Go fuel station, to be built at 7801 Glenlivet Drive West.

In May, planners asked Weis engineers for changes to the planned eight-pump station before giving approval.

Those changes included moving the entrance to accommodate traffic flow during busy periods.

Once planners give their approval, the plans move on to the Board of Supervisors for its OK. That may not happen until September.

The board will also hear a revised plan from representatives from The Goddard School.

The Goddard School, a preschool facility, plans to open a location at 8236 Hamilton Blvd. in Breinigsville.

According to township records, the company plans to develop a 1.9482-acre parcel. The proposed child-care facility would be a 13,219-square-foot building with 52 parking spaces.

The property is in a medium low-density residential zone. A child-care facility is a permitted use, provided that it is served by an arterial road, which in this instance, it is.

Planners will also hear from representatives of the Parkland Community Library who will resubmit a land development plan for the new library site at 354 Grange Road.

Construction on the new library is contingent on approval of a scheduled November voter referendum.
