Niagara and Krause Toyota get Approval to Expand

Niagara Bottling, Krause Toyota and a new warehouse on Schantz Road all get approval to build and expand.

Upper Macungie Township supervisors last week approved plans for to the Niagara Bottling Company on Industrial Boulevard and three other developments.

Niagara is planning to add a break room, training room, restrooms and offices to its manufacturing plant to accommodate more employees. It started with a staff of 170 and expects to grow to about 250, Niagara officials have said.

The expansion will not include an exit driveway on Schantz Road, which was a with township planners. Planners feared the driveway would enable trucks to make a left turn onto Schantz Road, adding to truck traffic there.

Niagara officials said the exit would be designed so truckers would only go right but the planners were concerned some would ignore right-turn-only signs for a more convenient route to Route 100.

Township supervisors voted to OK the expansion plan but said Niagara would have to come back before the township if the company wanted to go ahead with the additional driveway.
