Supervisors Will Reopen Upper Macungie Budget

Township officials want to cut costs as they prepare to hire a new township manager.

Upper Macungie supervisors will hold a series of meetings this month to reopen the township's 2014 budget.

The budget was adopted in December, but the law allows new supervisors to revisit it in the first month after they take office.

The budget was passed without a tax increase, but supervisors are hoping to cut costs as they prepare to hire a township manager.

The meetings will allow the township to "ask each department head to go through their budgets and see where we can cut costs," supervisor Sam Ashmar said.

The meetings are scheduled for:

  • Friday, Jan. 10 at 5 p.m.
  • Friday, Jan. 17 at 3 p.m.
  • Monday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m.
All meetings will be held at the township offices, and are open to the public.
