Supervisors To Tackle Rec Board Plan

Upper Macungie board could give it the final nod tonight.

Upper Macungie Supervsiors will tackle the when they meet this evening at 7 p.m. at the municipal meeting room, located at 8330 Shantz Rd in Breinigsville.

The plan was well-received by township residents at February public hearing. However, attorneys for Jaindl Land Co.to supervisors, stating higher fee schedules and acreage requirements required for providing recreational space for residents will be a deterrent for developers.

Township officials designed the proposed recreation plan to preserve open space and increase the number of leisure activities available to its more than 20,000 residents, including the and its athletic fields.

In February, Jaindl attorneys told supervisors that the proposal of hiking the per unit recreation fee for developers from its current $2,500 to $5,00 by 2020 is excessive.
