Supervisors, South Whitehall Commissioners To Hold Joint Work Session

The joint work session between the two municipalities on Feb. 13 will explore possible ways to acquire an incident command vehicle.

Upper Macungie Supervisors and South Whitehall Commissioners will hold a joint meeting Feb. 13 to discuss ways to acquire an incident command vehicle.

The meeting will take place at the South Whitehall Township building, 4444 Walbert Ave., at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.

The two municipalities are looking at ways on how to finance an incident command vehicle that would be a shared asset used for police, fire and EMS calls.

"It's exploratory only. We need to get opinions, talk to their commissioners and see if there's grant money out there," said Upper Macungie Supervisor Sam Ashmar. "We need to make sure we do our due diligence."

Part of that due diligence, Ashmar said, will be looking at short-term leases and financing, in addition to available grant monies and possible partnerships with corporate sponsors.

"It would be great to have a Parkland vehicle, used for the whole community," Ashmar said.
