Supervisors Holding Special Meeting Today

I'll be there and I'm going to request they mandate the day for Christmas to a convenient Saturday. I can spend Sunday getting over the party aspect. It's not the actual holiday, but it's convenient. I don't know how the other 49 states can handle Oct 31 so well. It's just so dificult and beyond most PA residents. I hope the boss upstairs doesn't mind-- doesn't he have any idea how difficult it is to celebrate and decorate for a holiday on a weekday? Maybe we can get them to move April 15th, too. Extend tax day to November or something?

I agree with Ann, I grew up in a sane state, where townships did not feel they had the power to change the calendar and celebrated national holidays with the rest of the nation.

We need an ordanance changing New Years Eve to April or May. It would much more ccnvient and safer since there won't be any ice or snow on the roads and we won't have to wear those bulky clothes. We can tape the ball dropping in NYC and play it in Maay. It will be great, our own little New Years!

if they don't like Halloween being celebrated on Halloween then they need to either move or get a life. Why so much attention on a pagan celebration of death?

Just goes to show if you BOO HOO enough, the Township Supervisors will even give you your own special meeting, so you can explain how important it is....."for the Kids....its all about the children!" $5 says the Township changes it back to Friday......SPINELESS, just like the Board of Ed!

The meeting was already scheduled regardless of the Halloween issue. It was only added to address the majority of the township residents who spoke out. They spent about 2 minutes on it and moved on to more important business. But John, you got your $5 because Trick-or-Treat has returned to Friday just like it has been for 25 years!! No one was there that spoke out in support of the 31st so now everyone has to deal with it. At least when we don't like something, we speak out about it and take action. Not sit at home and call the township SPINELESS because they respected the majority of opinions that wanted the 26th. Upper Macungie tried to change it to the 31st in 2003 and North Whitehall attempted it in 2010 and the same thing happened. It's pretty obvious that most people like it on Friday and that's how it should remain. And the candy will still taste just as good on the 26th as it would have on the 31st.

Enough already! John get a life! You posted about 17 times about what day Halloween should be celebrated! You don't even have kids who trick or treat! Why do you even care?! Why does anyone care so much that they have to leave numerous posts (ie Anne Smith, mom of dnnnd, & john)? Friday was nice and more convenient for the parents, yes I said it the parents. While trick or treating is about the kids it's the parents who do all the work. By the way TRICK OR TREAT NIGHT WAS CHANGED BACK! Ha put that in your pipe and smoke it- John!

glad to see the people of upper macungie feel trick or treat night is a major problem maybe you people should focus on more important stuff like taxes, the state of the fogelsville dam and all the major companies moving in. grow up people. are you kidding me does it matter what night it is???
