Supervisors Forward Jaindl Land Co. Request To Upper Mac And Lehigh Valley Planners

Re-zoning and re-classification request requires review and comment.

A request from Jaindl Land Co. to re-zone and re-classify portions of land along Route 100 for the planned  Lehigh Hills development was referred to the Upper Macungie Planning Board and the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission by the township's Board of Supervisors Thursday night.

Both governmental bodies will review and comment on the planned development.

Bruce Wlazelek, the township's community development director, told Jaindl officials that March's Upper Macungie Planning Board agenda has already been set. That will set Jaindl's request for review and comment back until April's meeting.

Supervisors said a public hearing on the matter won't occur until May at the earliest. 

In other business, supervisors approved an ordinance for the widening of Hassadahl Road, off Route 100 near . That work is tied into Jaindl's Lehigh Hills development plans. A request for the township to vacate Mulberry Road for similar purposes was tabled.

Solicitor Andrew Schantz told supervisors he has not received an update on the validity of the township's animal control contract with Sanctuary at Haafsville. In January, stating that the Fogelsville facility is not considered a licensed kennel.

Yet, earlier this week, South Whitehall Township commissioners with the no-kill facility.

Elsewhere, supervisors voted to extend the township's trash contract with Raritan Valley Disposal through Dec. 2012, under the current terms and conditions.

Supervisors also voted to enter a one-year contract with MinutePAL.com of Wind Gap at $9.95 per month to update the township's website with information concerning including emergency information, meeting agendas and events.
