Dog Park Needs $4,000 to Continue Construction

First phase of Upper Macungie's dog park needs $4,000 to complete the fencing and pavement.

The voted Thursday night to recommend that the township's Board of Supervisors front the organization $4,000 to complete a portion of a long-awaited .

Two Girl Scouts, Kristen Hickey and Anna Colanduoni, have helped to build the park in off Route 100 in Fogelsville, but their fundraising efforts can only stretch so far.

The board needs a total of $17,000 to fully complete the park, which covers about three-quarters of an acre, with pavement and double-gated fencing to accommodate both large and small dogs.

"Residents have said (opening a dog park) is one of the highest priorities in the township," said board member Rich Kiser. "We have the plans but no budget."
