Planners To Examine Ocean Spray Project Tonight

The will consider the so-called Project Pilgrim tonight, which is a land development plan by the Ocean Spray Co. to erect a 315,000 square foot industrial building on 44 acres in the township.

, following contentious debate last month, passed a zoning resolution that could allow the Ocean Spray to build a new bottling facility at the southwest corner of Schantz Road and Route 100. Both parcels of land belong to the Jaindl Land Co.

Supervisors heard on the proposal, much of it negative due to traffic concerns, on Dec. 21.

Planners are scheduled to see a traffic study from Keystone Consulting Engineers and find out more in-depth detail on just what the development project entails and how it will impact local traffic.

A full traffic study, paid for by the township had not yet been completed last month, although Keystone Consulting Engeering's Scott Stenroos said the traffic trips created by the light industrial zoning would be bearable.

And, Director of of Community Development Ken Moloney said at the January supervisors meeting that Gov. Tom Corbett considers moving Ocean Spray from Bordentown, N.J. to Upper Macungie a high priority.
