Routes 100 and 78/22 in Upper Macungie Township will see more traffic because of a detour that will begin August 29 to accommodate bridge repairs on Route 309.
A three-mile southbound stretch of 309 will close until May so crews can repair two bridges that cross creeks in Heidelberg Township and North Whitehall townships, according to this Morning Call report.
Route 309 will remain open to northbound traffic throughout the PennDOT project.
Southbound traffic - made up of thousands of drivers daily - will be detoured from 309 onto 100 and then 78/22 back to 309 near the Upper Macungie/South Whitehall border.
