NSA Leaker's Dad: 'American People Don't Know Full Truth'

Lon Snowden of Upper Macungie, speaking on NBC's 'Today Show,' said people don't know the full truth about his son, alleged NSA leaker Edward Snowden.

Upper Macungie resident Lon Snowden, in a Friday morning interview on NBC's 'Today Show,' said Americans don't know the full truth about the story of his son, alleged National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden.

Edward Snowden, 29, who is said to have taken refuge in Russia, identified himself to news organizations earlier this year as the man who leaked news of the National Security Agency's vast surveillance programs.

Lon Snowden described himself to NBC's Matt Lauer as "an angry American."

"Americans don't know the truth," he said. "The full truth is coming."

Snowden blasted Congress for funding NSA programs. He also blasted Congress, the media and President Barack Obama for "demonizing my son."

"I am concerned father. I have confidence in my son that he is speaking the truth," Snowden said. "When my son takes his final breath, he will be comfortable with what he did and know it was right."

Snowden, who appeared alongside his attorney Bruce Fein, said they are "doing our very best," to connect with Edward Snowden, who is still said to be hiding in Russia.
